As a first-year student at VCU in Richmond prior to starting school here this past fall, I had never visited the Richmond area. My goal behind this project was to challenge myself to see more. Specifically, see more of Richmond.

My fall semester’s schedule consisted of a heavy academic workload I didn’t know how to manage. Eventually, I began to feel trapped, trapped by my classes and trapped by the VCU campus. I wanted to change that.

In early December, I decided to pursue photography as a hobby that I never gave myself enough time to explore. As of now, I have learned how to teach myself new skills while also finding a balance with my academic life.
